Surf Tip-Tube wipeout

trough.jpg
Keep getting smashed trying to pull into the tube. The longer you stay on your board the safer it is. If you stay right in the sweet spot until the wave collapses, you will often fall into the trough (soft spot in the wave where the lip has pulled away the water just before it closes out). Here you sometimes fall under the wave and pop straight up the back. If not, at least the lip has already fallen, the wave has collapsed and you will be surrounded by softer whitewater. If you fall early you become part of the wave, get sucked back up and go over with the lip for a real good working. In this photo you can see the "hole" in the bottom of the wave where you fall into at the moment the wave implodes. if you stay on as long as possible the wipeout will be less intense, also, it gives you a chance to sometimes make the un-makeable (this was not that one unfortunately).
